We are a small friendly practice. We do not subscribe to the corporate mentality. We practice to the highest standards and invest heavily in training and equipment. All members of the clinical team are encouraged to develop an area of special interest, to enable the best care to be offered by the practice. Sage Veterinary Group is both a first opinion and referral practice in that we not only see animals brought to us by our own clients, we also take orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery referral cases from other practices.

We run the practice with ‘old fashioned’ values of professionalism, honesty and personal service with animal welfare at the heart of everything we do. We also offer value for money. That is not to say that we are the cheapest, we are not. However we have a high level of post-graduate training and investment in equipment which allows us to undertake advanced surgeries that many similar sized practices are not able to offer, at considerably reduced fees because we do not have the overheads of larger ‘referral only’ practices. We believe this enables us to offer a more clinically complete and financially competitive service to our clients.

As a practice it is our job to enable our clients to make informed decisions about their pets. Our aim is to explain conditions, tests and treatment options and then tailor treatments accordingly. It is important to realise that animals, just like people, are individuals and do not all respond in the same way to a given treatment or situation, and we recognise and welcome this individuality. We therefore treat every case individually, tailoring our treatments to the owners as well as their animal.

We also promote and improve animal welfare by participating in charity neutering programmes run by the RSPCA, Dogs Trust, Cats Protection League and Local Authorities, as well as working with the RSPCA and Local Authority Inspectorates to protect vulnerable animals and enforce animal welfare law.

Not all veterinary practices are the same

The Ethos of a practice governs the type and quality of the work it carries out, and the range of procedures it is competently able to offer. As with any walk of life, in veterinary practice the level of expertise and knowledge offered varies considerably between practices and individual veterinary surgeons.
